The Wei Family: A London Portrait to Remember
When Lord Nathaniel Wei reached out to Mary, “surprised” doesn’t begin to cover it. What started as a chance dinner conversation with his son, Ethan, quickly turned into a remarkable journey—one that led us across the Atlantic for a truly meaningful portrait session with the Wei family.
Mary has had the privilege of working with Lord Wei on several significant projects involving our Brush Oil paintings. From presenting the value of analog art to members of Parliament, to visiting the historic College of Arms, our collaboration has been nothing short of inspiring. And now, it seems our story with London is just beginning.
But beyond the professional connection, what mattered most on this trip was capturing a powerful family milestone.
With Ethan preparing to head to the United States for college, the Wei family is stepping into the next chapter—closing the door on their “18 Summers” and embracing a future full of change, pride, and new beginnings. There was no better time—or place—than now to preserve these moments in portraits.
We photographed them in their favorite London park, a place of solace and reflection during the pandemic. The session began in a charming sunken garden framed by wrought iron gates—an elegant and serene setting that perfectly complemented the family’s style and closeness.
As we moved toward the river, we captured soft, natural poses by a nearby bridge, individual portraits of the boys, and a few quiet moments between Lord and Lady Wei. We concluded in a narrow alley leading to a historic pub—chosen by Lady Wei for its deep personal significance.
This session wasn’t just about photographs. It was about legacy, connection, and honoring a family’s journey—with art that will be treasured for generations to come.
