A Mother’s Word: The I Am Project
When she was asked to choose a single word that defines her, she didn’t hesitate: “I am a Mom.”
In that simple phrase, there is a world of meaning—love, strength, sacrifice, and legacy. For many women, the role of “mom” is not just part of their life; it is the very heart of who they are. It is both a title and a story, woven through every laugh, hug, and moment shared with their children.
At Hayes & Fisk Photography, we created the I Am Project to celebrate those defining words. Inspired by John Singer Sargent’s timeless artistry, each subject selects a word that encapsulates their identity, and we bring it to life through fine art portraiture. For mothers, this becomes an especially meaningful experience—capturing not just their likeness, but the essence of their role in the lives of their children.
The portraits of moms with their kids are among the most powerful in this series. They radiate warmth, resilience, and devotion—qualities that will be cherished for generations. More than a photograph, these pieces become heirlooms, telling the story of motherhood in its truest form.
The I Am Project is about more than creating images—it’s about honoring identity. Whether your word is Mom, Strong, Joyful, or something entirely your own, we invite you to step in front of the camera and let us help you preserve it.
We are now booking sessions for this special artist series. If you would like to create your own I Am portrait, reach out—we would be honored to tell your story.
