From Portrait Session to Installation: We’re With You Every Step
At Hayes & Fisk, creating beautiful portraits is about much more than the time spent in front of the camera. We guide our clients through the entire process—from the first conversation and planning the session to selecting the perfect images and seeing them professionally installed in their homes.
Today, we are looking back at two previous installations that beautifully show why this final step matters so much.
After a portrait session, it can be difficult to decide which images to display, what size will work best, or where each piece should be placed. A portrait that looks large on a computer screen may actually appear too small once it is hanging above a fireplace or on an expansive wall. That is where our experience makes a difference. We help clients consider the size and layout of the room, the surrounding furnishings, and the overall style of the home before choosing the finished artwork.
In one of these homes, a large family portrait became the focal point above the living room fireplace. Individual portraits of the children were also placed throughout the adjoining dining and living areas, creating a coordinated collection that feels intentional without being overly matched. In the second home, a portrait of two siblings was installed above the mantel, where it complements the classic blue-and-white décor and brings a personal touch to the room.
Once every detail has been selected, we also take care of the installation. There is no guessing about measurements, worrying about whether a portrait is centered, or trying to safely hang a large, framed piece. Each portrait is carefully placed so it looks balanced in the room and can be enjoyed for years to come.
The installation is always one of our favorite parts of the process. It is the moment when the photographs become more than images from a session—they become part of a family’s home and everyday life.
