Luke’s Senior Portrait Session

por

Wow, we can’t believe that we just completed Luke’s senior portraits as everyone else is about to start the new school year. It has been such a pleasure to watch the children in the Houchins family literally grow up in front of our cameras over these past 18 summers.

We began his session at the studio in our garden, where we had created the Brush Oil Paintings of each of the Houchins boys when they were 18 months old. Our favorite age to begin the oil painting journey, and the oils of all of them are even more precious now that we are updating them. We captured a few dressy casual images in and around the garden in some of the places we had over the course of Luke’s life. We then moved indoors in the studio to create other poses in his perfectly tailored navy suit, which ended up being the pose both Luke and his mother chose for his oil painting. We will create complementary Brush Oil Paintings of both of his brothers to match. Pose after pose, his expressions were just how we will always remember him: so happy and joyful. He has become a fine young man.

Luke still has the adorable face we first captured so many years ago, and you can definitely see both of his parents in him. He is quite a bit more muscular than last Christmas, all of that a result of his wrestling career. We were so happy to document this in the Benedictine Wrestling building on the campus of Benedictine High School, adjacent to the new St. Gertrude School campus, Mary and all three of Jamie’s Godchildren’s alma mater. Helping Luke and Amanda by applying our Hayes & Fisk Photography lighting technique, we were able to highlight both the facility as a supporting background and also detail the muscular outline of his body and singlet. However, our favorite poses were in front of the bell tower with his fly fishing attire and pole. We also were able to highlight the handmade flies he has made and uses when he goes fly fishing. Photographing on his school's campus allowed us to ensure he has lasting visual memories of his final year at Benedictine.

We are so honored to be preserving the visual memories of the Houchins family, one we are sure to be documenting for many more generations. We can honestly say that Amanda will be forever grateful for all the portraits we have created together over the lifespan of her boys while they are still living under her and David’s roof.

She has now appropriately preserved her 18 summers!

As the back-to-school season is upon us, it's the perfect time for parents to start thinking about scheduling senior portrait sessions for their children entering their senior year in high school. Capturing these milestone moments is a wonderful way to preserve the memories of this significant time in their lives. With the school year just beginning, it's an ideal opportunity to plan and create lasting visual keepsakes.
