Brannan Family Portrait Session

This Brannan Family Portrait Session was photographed in the gardens of our Richmond, VA studio. We met Melissa while photographing her sister’s wedding this fall. We were delighted when she made the decision to have us create an oil portrait of her granddaughters and her dog Henry for the holidays. She also wanted to use an image for her Christmas cards. The idea was to have some fun candid shots in one outfit playing with Henry, a holiday outfit, and then one outfit for the main oil portrait. We choose the red dresses for the oil pose, barefoot with Henry with a neutral green background to compliment Melissa’s existing portraits she has collected over the years.

The session was a blast, Ollie stole the show with her personality and spunk. Henry was not far behind and the mix made of one fabulous session. Ainsley was a collection of poise and grace in front of the camera.

We started with the girls on our famous brick pathway and created the most amazing shots of them both individually and together. Once they were warmed up we quickly moved onto the main pose, seated with perfect smiles, but very natural, and a perfect Henry between them. After we completed the main portrait pose we included Melissa and Scott, even one of Scott and just the girls. Then we photographed Henry alone and then had the girls change clothes and finished the session with fun candids running around and playing with Henry.

We are so thankful that Melissa made the decision to document and preserve this moment in time. These are memories the whole family will treasure for years to come.
