Maymont Japanese Garden Bridal Portrait

This Maymont Japanese Garden Bridal Portrait Session turned out beautifully. Marci and her daughter Rachel, have been long-time clients of Hayes & Fisk. In fact, we photographed Marci’s wedding and Rached will when was a little girl.

We were honored to get the call from Marci about Rachel and James’ wedding. We knew from the beginning that this session was going to be special. Mom is a long-time owner of a bridal salon in Farmville, Virginia. With all of her years of experience, she had a vision for the portrait. However, Rachel also had some ideas so we worked together to make the session special for everyone.

Once we saw Rachel’s gorgeous dress, we knew the Japanese Garden would make for the perfect location. Rachel had purchased her dress when she saw it on the runway during the designer’s fashion show. As you can see, it is a stunning gown that was designed to mimic a jade sculpture. It had amazing layers of tulle that cascaded in ombre layers from green to white.

We began the session with the greenery as the backdrop. Then we moved towards the front entrance, making sure to capture the waterfalls during the transition. One great shot after another, we captured each different background as it presented itself. Finally, we concluded the session at the main entrance with their two dogs.

Overall, this was a beautiful experience for both mom and daughter. It was special to see how much they both enjoyed it and we got pleasure out of honoring them.
